Grain Plant Manager
Wilkins Farming Co are looking for an experienced grain plant manager to work as part of our motivated team.
Experience is essential as is a good attitude, successful applicants need to be prepared to take a screening drugs test.
The operators are expected to keep machinery clean, well maintained, accurate time recording and take pride in their work.
This is an important role requiring attention to detail operating grain specific equipment such as augers, conveyors, elevators, screening and aspirator equipment, dryers, and crushers as well as telehandlers and tractors.
The role could be full time short term or permanent depending on the applicant.

Farm Mechanic
Wilkins Farming Co is a livestock and cropping farming business in Northern Southland. We are looking for somebody capable to be our farm mechanic and manage our workshop as part of our motivated team.
We have a fleet of tractors, trucks, utes, motor bikes, diggers and farm equipment which requires general repairs and maintenance. Experience in engineering and automotive mechanics is preferred but we will consider somebody with experience in either, a good attitude is essential.
Depending on the task and farm mechanics capacity we use a combination of in-house management and third-party contractors to service our repairs and maintenance needs. Dealer brands generally manage major services of vehicles while we take care of minor servicing and day-day upkeep & repairs. Major engineering projects are generally outsourced depending on the nature of the task but much like the vehicles we try and manage the intermediate day-day engineering in house also.
Machine operators and their managers are expected to keep machinery clean and well maintained within their ability and the farm mechanic is tasked with supporting the operators in this role.
Ideally the right applicant will be able to manage inventory of consumables and parts however some assistance is available in this regard if necessary.
After five years our previous mechanic is moving back to his hometown and the position is available as soon the right applicant is available.
We will provide competitive market rate remuneration to match skills & experience and there is accommodation available on the farm if required, the role comes with a mechanics ute to drive to and from work from this accommodation or other nearby residence.

Tractor Driver
Wilkins Farming Co is a livestock and cropping farming business in Northern Southland. We are looking for somebody capable to operate our modern equipment and work as part of our motivated team.
Experience is preferred but we are prepared to consider somebody who doesn’t have much experience however, either way a good attitude is essential.
Tractor work includes cultivation, hay & silage making, feeding livestock and baler & drill operation.
The operators are expected to keep machinery clean, well maintained, accurate paper work and take pride in their work.
This is a broad scale business with a variety of work on offer, so If you prefer variety or if you like to specialise we could have a position to suit you.

Dairy Farm Staff
Wilkins Farming Co are a longstanding family farming business in Northern Southland which covers livestock, cropping and contracting. As part of this we oversee several dairy operations which require personnel of all levels of experience either immediately or for the new season beginning June 2019, open to negotiation to suit the successful applicants.
We are looking for long term permanent, honest and energetic people who are passionate about dairy farming. The farms are overseen and managed by high calibre long term personnel of 5 -10 years who offer good understanding of the farms, business and the farming area allowing them to provide good support to new personnel. The scope of the business allows career progression for successful applicants.
Typical dairy farming duties are on offer like milking, feeding/shifting stock, irrigation, general farm maintenance and animal husbandry. The sheds are rotaries with in-shed feeding, automatic cup removers and Protrack. The farms are mostly flat land and irrigated by pivots with a small amount of sprinkler and rotorainer in the margins.
The farms are located at Five Rivers and Wendonside, there is a range of accommodation options available. Both farms are well situated for outdoor pursuits and have bus services to local schools. Competitive pay packages to match the skills and experience of the successful applicants on offer.

Truck Driver Wanted
We are looking for a capable full-time bulk truck driver to work as part of our team on our contracting and cropping operation in Northern Southland. Main roles include carting grain, gravel and fertiliser .
Operators are expected to respect their equipment, keep the gear clean, keep paperwork in good order and maintain good customer relations.
A Class 5 Licence is required
