Wilkins Farming often has seasonal vacancies for tractor, truck & machine operators as well as various farm labouring positions. We normally employ people for summer holiday jobs and occasionally have permanent vacancies including livestock roles.

We have a fleet of modern tractors, harvest equipment, haulage trucks and a full range of equipment for cultivation, fertilising, planting, spraying & baling.

Experienced staff who enjoy operating the latest agricultural equipment in the varied conditions throughout the upper Southland region are a major component in the success of WFL.

Farm Accountant or Financial Controller Role

WFC is a mixed livestock and cropping farming business in Northern Southland with multiple trading entities covering livestock, cropping, transport and agricultural contracting.

Our company is seeking an experienced applicant to assist the management team.  The role will be reporting to directors while deriving key information from unit managers.  You will look for key supplier engagement and take a lead position in this team orientated company.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure accurate and up-to-date finance information is available to support decision making.
  • Ensure an accurate and complete set of balance sheet reconciliations is maintained
  • Assess the impact of any new or modified tax legislation on the Group.
  • Assist to foster best practice by developing procedures to ensure compliance and efficiency.
  • Support the CFO and MD with risk management strategies and policies.
  • Provide financial reporting services to third parties as required.
  • Assist with staff training and development.
  • Support CFO and MD to ensure a high performing admin and finance team is maintained.
  • Keep current administrative, auditing and reporting responsibilities required of the position.
  • Ensure all relevant company policies are understood and adhered to.
  • Prepare monthly and ad-hoc financial reports and cash flow statements for the Group and individual entities containing explanations of trends and variances to budget.
  • Ensure compliance with all taxation requirements, including preparation of annual tax returns, implementing tax planning strategies, filing GST returns for all companies.

 

Personnel Specification, Qualifications & Experience

  • Experienced and qualified Accountant or Financial Controller.
  • Understanding of finance in New Zealand agribusiness.
  • Knowledge of farming/agriculture.
  • Experience in preparing monthly management reports, board and variance reporting.
  • Understand external financial reporting, including preparation of group financial statements.
  • Experience interpreting accounting and financial reporting issues.
  • Awareness of internal control processes & procedures, experience in process improvement.
  • Advanced MS Office skills, ability to develop, document and maintain complex spreadsheets.
  • Ability to think strategically and cope with business complexity.
  • The potential to develop both the personal leadership and technical skills experience
  • Experience building strong networks with key stakeholders (internal and external).
  • Understanding of commercial realities and well developed business acumen.
  • Respect for confidentiality when dealing with sensitive information.
  • Sound business intuition of good and bad decision making.

Farm Office Administrator

Our company is seeking an energetic applicant to assist the office team.  The role will be reporting to the office manager and be vital in office function and cohesion ensuring an efficient, productive and user-friendly work place.

Position Overview

The role of Office Administrator is a varied role providing support to our managers and employees, assisting in our daily office needs and with the smooth running of the business. We have recently refurbished and expanded our office building enabling us to offer this full-time role.   Responsibilities of the role include being the first point of contact for our business, managing reception and office presentation, data inputting and record management, maintaining appropriate filing systems, vehicle fleet administration, and other administrative tasks as required.

Operators are expected to respect their equipment, keep the gear clean, keep paperwork in good order and maintain good customer relations.
